Words Set Us Free

As children, words help open our minds,

giving us the magical power of communion.

Then we grow.

Words become the boulders we use in our emotional catapults

bombarding a world that confuses us,

trying to break through the rules and regulations that suffocate us

trying to find our world, our world where we belong.

Then words become the tools.

Tools we use to structure and reason,

balancing our rationale as we try to build and conform.

Still questioning, they become the pallet we use to color our world

Sometimes highlighting – sometimes suppressing,

trying to make our reality the reality we want.

Finally, words form the sheet that covers us in our final moments.

Words help us remain anchored in the universe.

When we treasure them,

play with them,

paint with them,

we can learn to acknowledge,

understand

and accept

Accept the bottomless well of opportunities life can open to us

see beyond the concrete structure within the brain.

When we see the power of the word,

see the magic where words are transformed into feelings

feelings that touch our soul

open our hearts

It is then that we are truly free.
