Surfing the Crest
One day not so long ago I dreamt I could ride the waves
I dreamt I had a surf board, it’s magic power gave me strength
The sun and moon upon its breath
Riding on the wave - the power within released
Surfing the crest - head held high
I was strong - there was no fear
Surfing the crest - leaving behind the shame
The power of the ocean absorbs my pain
For that moment - that eternal space in time I believed I was
Believed I had a place. I was me - I owned the sea
I lowered my head - the wave it broke
My body laid upon the sand
Why did l fail - I did not understand
I was riding on the dream of hope
If I could dream then I could cope
But then the voices of the earth they spoke
We know you are tired, we know you are sore
You’ve been washed upon this beach before
Do you not realise you’ve a lesson to learn
So stand upon the board once more. Face the waves yet again
If you’ve done your best there is no shame
So stand up tall, let the waves carry your name.
