Natures Torment
Rain drops like boulders send echoes of terror throughout the land.
The pelicans feel the rumbling
as the memory of the rhythm –
the flow of the water is interrupted
Trees quiver.
Animals seek refuge in the shelters deep within
The gods of the earth and sky locked in challenge
Who rules the seasons?
Who places ownership over all kingdoms to be perceived?
Earth, air and water in battle
Who controls the crops?
Who allows them to bear fruit?
The sky - red with anger
The clouds explode as the pressure builds
What caused this disruption?
The wind in the treacherous pull of the hurricane rips throughout the land shattering the frame that once held all that was
The water in torrents pours, flooding all in the desperate hope of washing away this discord
Air tries to disperse all that is left in this shattered land, all evidence of what was
and now what is
Soon the earth’s dark passion fades,
Rocks, sand dunes and mountains shake once more then settle
the rhythm of the water calms.
The caller of the universe marks the boundaries once more
A tentative peace abides.
